Volkswagen have revealed details of its powerful Golf R Estate coming to UK next spring and features same 2.0 litre petrol engine as the hatchback.
Volkswagen have extended its Golf Estate range with launching new R line up model which has made its first public debut in LA motor show. Powered by same 2.0 litre petrol engine that we have seen in Golf three door and five door hatchback versions.
Golf R Estate : Design and Styling
Like the sister Golf R hatchback, the Golf R Estate follows the design elements including R-specific bumpers, bi-xenon headlights, 18 inch big alloys, R shaped front grille and black brake callipers. At the rear, it also gets the same chrome tailpipes. The optional 19 inch ‘Pretoria’ flow-formed wheels are also available.
The interior is quite same highlights with Alcantara upholstery, R-badge littering cabin and blue highlights in the ambient lighting and in the door cards.
Golf R Estate : Features powerful 2.0 litre petrol engine
The exclusive Golf R Estate model fitted with permanent 4Motion all-wheel drive producing 296bhp and 380Nm of torque via a standard 6 speed dual clutch gearbox. This power enables the Golf R Estate to accelerates 0-62mph in just 5.1 seconds and hits up to 155mph maximum speed. Offers combine fuel efficiency of 40.3mpg and CO2 emissions of 163g/km.
The Golf R estate variant grows the space with luggage capacity of 605 litres and extend up to1,620 litres by folding rear seats down. That is almost 400 litres larger than the hatch in its most huge configuration.
The R version of Estate follows the handling tweaks too, with sport suspension, a progressive steering and option of turning off the ESC(Electronically Stability Control) if required. There is also ‘Eco Sport’ mode which can be deactivated for use on a race track.
The price has not announced yet but the Golf R Estate would be available to UK market in next spring 2015.
