Might some of you know that Audi and Seat are belonged to Volkswagen Group, But do you know that there are other car manufacturer as well which acquired by VW Group.

VW Group is the biggest name in automotive industry in the world.

About Volkswagen Group

Volkswagen is German car manufacturer was founded in 1937 who  become most famous as the Beetle. The company’s production grew rapidly in 1950s and 1960s and it acquired “Auto Union”. Auto Union was producing the first post war Audi models. In 1970s VW have launched its Passat, Golf and Polo models which became its best seller.

1) Audi

Audi

Audi is German car manufacturer was founded in 1932, headquarter in Ingolstadt, Germany.

Volkswagen Group have been owned 99.55% of Audi subsidiary since 1966. Volkswagen have re-launched the Audi brand with the 1965 introduction of the Audi F103 series.


2) SEAT

SEATSeat‘ is Spanish automotive manufacturer founded in 1950 in its head office Martorell, Spain.

Volkswagen have purchased 51% of the majority stake on June 18, 1986, which followed 75% share on December 23, 1986 and In December 1990 VW Group acquired 99.99% ownership of the company.

Seat cars are more popular for its sporty look and design. Seat produce economical car and its award winning Seat Leon is very popular in Europe in hatchback range.


3) SKODA

Skoda

Skoda is based in Czech Republic founded in 1985 as Laurin and Klement was acquired by Skoda Works in 1925 which was acquired full control by Volkswagen Group in 1992.

Because of the fall of communism, most of the industries were subject to privatisation and it happens to Skoda as well. Seeing the popularity and reputation Czech government have chosen Volkswagen Group on December 1990 and have made joint venture partnership on March 1991. Where VW Group have taken 30% share on April 1991.

There is no doubt about Skoda cars because its customers are the most satisfied customers on earth…


4) Bentley

Bentley

Bentley cars known and very popular worldwide for luxuries car brand. Bentley was founded on January 18, 1919 in Cricketwood near London which was acquired by Rolls Royce in 1931.

VW AG have purchased in 1998 including designs, model nameplates, production and administrative facilities. The Spirit of Ecstasy and Rolls-Royce grille shape trademarks, but not the rights to the use of the Rolls-Royce name or logo, which are owned by Rolls-Royce Holdings plc. However BMW was seemed to be a logical purchaser of Rolls Royce motors because they were providing engines and other components of Bentley So BMW made a offer of £340m which was overridden by Volkswagen £430m.

Because of the VW deal to Rolls Royce, BMW have given 12 months notice to termination of supplying deal of engines, which would not be enough time for VW to re-engineer the cars.

BMW paid Rolls-Royce plc £40m to license the Rolls-Royce name and logo. After negotiations, BMW and VW agreed to provide engines and components from 1998 to 2002. VW have taken full control from 2003 with the “Bentley” marquee. And BMW have established a new legal entity of Rolls Royce motor cars and have built its production and administrative house in Goodwood, England.


5) Lamborghini

Lamborghini

Lamborghini is an Italian car manufacturer was founded in 1963 was in full control of Volkswagen Group since 1998. Lamborghini produces high end and mid engines super cars.


6) Bugatti

Bugatti

Buggati was a French car manufacturer of high performance automobiles was founded in 1909 in Germany. Buggati cars known for its design beauty. The death of its founder and his son in 1947 ensured there was not a successor to lead the factory. The company struggled financially and released its last model in 1950. Today the name is owned by VW Group.


7) Scania

Scania is Swedish automotive industry founded in 1891 manufacturer of commercial vehicles and diesel engines for motive power of heavy vehicles and marine.

VW Group is the biggest shareholder with 70.94% equity in Scania. MAN SE also holds a 17.37% voting stake in Scania. However VW also owns 75.53% of MAN.


8) Ducati

Ducati

Ducati is an Italian company design and manufactures motorcycles was founded in 1926 in Italy which was acquired by Audi AG on July 2012.


9) MAN

MAN

MAN is very big name manufacturer heavy trucks, production of diesel engines for marines and turbo machinery. The company was founded in 1758 , headquarter in Munich, Germany.

Volkswagen Group acquired 76% share and merged MAN and Scania to create Europe’s largest truck maker.


10) Porsche

Porsche

Porsche is German car manufacturer company was founded in 1931 by Ferdinand Porsche, headquarter in Stuttgart, Germany.

VW have a close relationship to Porsche as Porsche Founder have designed VW Beetle which became very famous worldwide. These two companies have collaborated in 1969 and produced great VW-Porsche 914, 914-6.

Porsche automotive business full owned by the VW Group and Porsche Automobile Holding SE has a 50.74% voting stake in Volkswagen Group.
