This year has been a fantastic one for the UK car market. Estimations have been smashed month after month as the slow, but steady, economic recovery has bolstered consumer confidence and therefore their investment in new vehicles.
With UK new car registrations falling just short of 2 million between January the 1st and October the 31st this year has seen a 10% increase on the year before. 8. BMW 1 series – approx. 37,000 units
The first BMW to appear on our list, the 1 Series will tick a lot of boxes for many. Of the smaller vehicles it is one of the more executive cars with fairly classic BMW styling in a much smaller package. 7. BMW 3 series – approx. 37,000 units
The 3 Series is the 1 Series’ bigger, older and slightly more imposing brother. WhatCar?’s Executive Car of the Year and owner of a coveted 5 star rating the 3 Series is by far the most executive and business like vehicle on the list.

6. Nissan Qashqai – approx. 45,000 units
As the original compact-crossover the Nissan Qashqai has sold over 2 million units worldwide since its 2007 launch. It’s no surprise that a supermini has topped the number one spot. And what a topping it is, with over 100,000 sales already this year it’s leading the group by a distance.
