The Frankfurt Motor Show 2013

September 4, 2013

The 2013 Frankfurt Motor show is only a matter of weeks (it starts on the 14th of this month!) away and excitement is building. But what new vehicular creations can you expect to see there? We’ve put together a list of just a small selection of the vehicles that will be on show, enjoy.

Audi at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show Audi Sport Guattro Concept 2013 at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show

The recently teased Quattro Sport hybrid concept (pictured) is rumoured (read: highly likely) to make its debut at this year’s Frankfurt Motor Show. The most exciting thing about this particular concept is the fact it will actually go into production, but in very limited numbers.

Thanks to its low production numbers it will be the most pricey production car Audi makes at £125,000. For that money you’re likely to get a turbocharged 4.0-litre V8 600bhp engine, possibly supported by a separate electric motor, as well as a pretty mean looking car. Audi will also be revealing a plethora of other models.

BMW at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show

BMW-i8 Concept 2011 at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show

BMW are going for broke at this year’s international motor show Frankfurt and displaying seven cars. As expected their new electric city car, the i3 will steal the show alongside the eagerly anticipated BMW i8 hybrid supercar (pictured). BMW will also be unveiling the new 4 series and M4 concept.

BMW will also be displaying their new Concept Active Tourer (or CAT) which is tipped to become the 1-series GT, BMW’s B-Class rival. To top it all the new X5 will also be on display as well as a ‘regular’ and plug-in hybrid vehicle.

Jaguar at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show

Jaguar C-X17 CONCEPT PREVIEW for the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show

It seems that the many rumours were true as the heavily anticipated Jaguar SUV (pictured, although you can’t see much) will make its debut at the show. Despite having trademarked both the name Q-Type and XQ it seems the SUV will be revealed under the C-X17 Concept moniker. A 340bhp 3.0 litre supercharged V6 could well power the top end model of the X3 and Q5 rival. Judging by Auto Express’ sketches you can expect a slightly different design than the latest Range Rover’s.

Mercedes at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show

Mercedes-Benz GLA Production Model for the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show

The much awaited Mercedes GLA production model (pictured) will be unveiled at this year’s motor show. The compact SUV (there seems to be a real SUV trend this year doesn’t there?) is designed to rival the Audi Q3 and BMW X1 and will steal the show alongside the S-Class’s many incarnations. See it in action below:

One of the new S-Class’s will be a  plug in hybrid, another will be the S63 AMG and the S-Class Coupe will also be revealed. We’re most excited for the S63 AMG with its 577bhp 5.5-litre bi-turbo V8 and imposing looks. Unfortunately it’s slightly out of our price range with it likely to start at £120,000.

Porsche at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show

Expect to see a production ready version of the 918 Spyder (pictured) revealed at this year’s Frankfurt Motor Show. A long time coming, the 875bhp hybrid possesses better fuel economy numbers than a Toyota Auris Hybrid! You can see (and hear) it below:

You can also expect to see a more powerful version of the Panamara which will be fitted with a bumped up 296bhp 3.0 litre turbocharged V6 diesel.

Ford at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show

Ford-S-MAX Concept 2013 for the Frankfurt Motor Show

Ford have decided to use the Frankfurt Motor Show to showcase their new S-Max Concept (pictured). The new MPV will focus largely on luxury and technology with a range of turbocharged EcoBoost engines and a possible hybrid version. Prices are expected to start around the £23, 000 region.

This is just a really small selection of some of the manufacturers and cars that will be displaying and displayed at this year’s show. If you wanted to find out more information or if you were tempted to order tickets you can still do so here.
