The German automaker Volkswagen have recently launched new Volkswagen Polo GTi model in Paris Motor Show.
In 2013, VW have launched the latest generation Golf GTi model and now one year after, VW comes up with compact but powerful brother, Golf GTi.
The new VW Polo GTi ditches the old 1.4 litre twin turbocharged engine for a 1.8 litre turbocharged engine producing 189bhp which is 12bhp more than before. Also the Polo GTi pitched as more premium alternative to Seat Ibiza Cupra, Ford Fiesta ST and Renaultsport Clio 200.
With the Paris debut Volkswagen is continuing the tradition of the ultra-sporty Polo which began almost 30 years ago with the legendary Polo G40 in 1985 and which is now in the fourth generation of the Polo GTI.
The new Polo GTi has been seen in both three door and five door versions in Paris motor show and it highlights new bumpers, GTi insignia, distinctive wheels and red radiator grille stripe gives the car a dynamic appearance.
First time, Polo GTi features LED headlights and LED daytime running lights. Styling with lower and bigger air intake, new honeycomb grille and the rear also boast sporty design features. The new 17 inch alloy wheels will be available with GTi styling with shiny red brake callipers.
The new Polo GTi will be available in a choice of seven colours with monochrome finishes.
On the inside, the GTi features the sporty elements with leather sports steering wheel, red stitching gear, handbrake lever and floor mats.
The wide range of standard equipment also will be available includes footwell lighting, a sound actuator, driver alert system, multi function display, composition touch infotainment system, front and rear park-pilot, heated windscreen washer nozzles and headlight cleaning system.
The other advanced features will be available depending on trim model includes Bluetooth audio streaming, proximity sensor, two-finger map zooming in navigation mode and wireless smartphone connection.
VW Polo GTi offers new addition 1.8 litre TSI engine
The new VW Polo GTi is powered by 192Ps/ 141kW four cylinder 1.8 TSI engine. The engine is very powerful delivers maximum output between 4200 and 6200 rpm for six speed manual engine where as other 7 speed DSG delivers the max output between 5400 to 6200 rpm.
The 1.8 TSI is very powerful and high tech advanced engine, highlights water-cooled exhaust gas recirculation to the turbocharger, which has been fully integrated into the cylinder head. This type of exhaust gas makes strong contribution towards improving fuel consumption. With all the latest generation Polo, the GTI complies with the EU6 emission standard.
The Polo GTi accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 6.7 seconds and a top speed of 236 km/h. The engines are amazingly efficient too, the 7 speed DSG drives upto 100km in just 5.6 litre and 6.0 litres (139 g/km CO2) with the 6-speed manual variant.
The Volkswagen Polo GTi, order books will be open before the end of 2014 with expected first deliveries to be made early in the New Year. The prices are expected to be around £19,000 for three door manual version.
