The French automaker, Renault have today confirmed its new mid-sized crossover would be called ‘Kadjar’ to take on the Nissan Qashqai and Skoda Yeti.
The company will reveal teaser photos and videos steadily across its social media channels, with more information expected soon. The Kadjar is set to be fully unveiled on 2nd February, ahead of an official debut at the Geneva Motor Show in March.
The Kadjar will take on the crossover SUV (suburban utility vehicle) from Nissan Qashqai, Mazda CX-5 and Skoda Yeti. Sitting above the Captur, the Kadjar uses the CMF (Common Module Family) platform architecture and is likely to use many of the same power trains as Nissan Qashqai with front and four-wheel drive options.
Meaning of the name – Renault says, the first part of the name ‘KAD’ is inspired by the word ‘quad’ which means a go-anywhere four-wheeled vehicle and the second part ‘JAR’ recalls the French words ‘agile’ and ‘jaillir’ representing agility and suddenly emerging from somewhere.
When will the new Renault Kadjar be on sale?
The company has planned to release the first photographs and specification details of the Kadjar on 2nd February 2015, before its public debut at Geneva Motor Show.
We would expect to see the Renault Kadjar on sale by the end of 2015.
