Today, BMW has revealed the facelifted version of 6 series range(including Coupe, Cabriolet and Gran Coupe) along with similarly tweaked versions of M6 range.
The facelifted versions of M6 and 6 Series is set to make their first public unveil at the 2015 Detroit Auto show in January. Both range models has received a mild makeover with better interior quality and engine tweaks.
WHAT THE REAL CHANGES HAVE BMW MADE?
The 6 series range comprising of the coupe, Convertible and Gran Coupe received few styling tweaks such as – reprofiled front bumper with a slightly altered kidney grille(nine bars instead of ten), new headlights with LED main beams, revised bumpers and new alloy wheel designs.
At the back, there ios bit more chrome on the boot and bigger tailpipes on six cylinder models and a few new pain metallic colours added.
The interior changes are a little more extensive with the efforts to improve the quality and ambience. Higher quality materials are all round features with new two tone colour leather trims are among a list of options which also includes the latest incarnation of the German car maker’s head up display function. BMW’s ‘Connected Drive’ sat-nav system comes as standard.
ANY ENGINE UPDATES?
The engine line up remains the same for the 6 series. However all the engines are now EU6 compliance while providing material gains in acceleration and in-gear performance together with reduced fuel consumption and CO2 emissions. The 640d Coupe now returns 54.3mpg and lowest CO2 emissions of 139g/km in the range – that sounds impressive specially for a bulky car.
WHAT ARE THE TECHNICAL CHANGES?
Both range models will get mix-‘n’-match settings for the dampers and the rear wheel steering technology makes the car even more stable in fast bends and quicker turns in slow speeds.
All the petrol models comes with sport exhaust system as standard with a switchable valve to reduce the back pressure and allows a sporty noise when activated.
M6 remains the same sport car and still available with two or four doors and with or without roof. It will get from 0-62mph in 4.2 seconds (4.3 for convertible) and has a top speed of 155mph.
BMW M6 offers the 28.5mpg fuel efficiency & 231g/km CO2 and respectively same for the Convertible.
Both M6 and 6 series model are available with two door coupe, convertible and four door coupe body styles. UK specification and prices to be announced at the Detroit Motor Show in January and BMW will whip the covers off the facelifted M6 and 6 Series models.
