How the world turns - The first result of Ferdinand Porsche's work as an engineer was an electric car called the “Lohner Porsche”, which was powered by wheel-hub motors, and attracted attention at the Paris World Fair in 1900. Also in 1900, Ferdinand Porsche combined his battery-powered wheel hub motors with a gasoline engine, giving birth to the principle of the serial hybrid drive. As a full hybrid concept, the “Semper Vivus” was also capable of covering larger distances in purely electric operation until the combustion engine was started to charge the batteries.
Ferry Porsche could not find what he was dreaming of - a small, lightweight sports car that uses energy efficiently. So he said “I decided to build it myself”.
Today, a Porsche is no ordinary sports car, but a sports car for everyday driving, whatever the weather.
