BMW 1 Series facelift revealed

The German brand, BMW has revealed details of facelifted BMW 1 Series – Highlights new styling updates inside and out plus a new high reviving engine added.

BMW 1 Series is one of the big-selling hatch available on market today – with sold more than two million units to worldwide market in last ten years.

Both three and five door versions of BMW 1 Series has received updates as well as features new three and four cylinder range of petrol and diesel engines. The facelifted model is all set to go sale in the UK in late March – priced from £20,245, after making its public debut at the Geneva Motor show in early March.

Exterior

The new 2015 BMW 1 Series hatchback has taken some style from 2 Series Coupe and 2 Series Convertible twins.

The most notable changes have been made at the front-end where you will find much more narrower and more angular headlights with LED daytime running lights. The iconic kidney grille has been reshaped and new L shaped slimmer taillights that wrap around and along the boot lid that complete the facelift.

Interior

New BMW 1 Series InteriorThe new 1 Series gets new cloth fabric seats to enhance the premium feel and look. A standard 6.5 inch touch screen provides full information and entertainment to the passengers. BMW’s professional sat-nav system and bigger 8.8 inch screen also available as optional.

The self-parking function has also been updated to provide help with bay parking, as well as parallel parking, while radar-based active cruise control, with stop and go function, is also now offered.

Engines

BMW 1 Series three doorThe company have worked largely on engine range, the most of the range is been taken from BMW’s modular engine family, so has plenty in common with the new Mini.

There are 136hp or 170hp 1.6 litre petrol engines available from the previous Mini, and 2.0 litre from the Current Cooper S.

The top 3.0 litre twin turbo engine is still available with new 326hp that now accelerates 0-62mph in just 4.9 seconds.

The new 2.0 litre diesel engine is available in three forms – 118d, 120d and 125d where 125d capable of 0-62mph in just 6.3 seconds plus the 118d returns 74.3mpg fuel economy while the 120d returns 61.4mpg. All these models comes standard offered in six-speed manual gearbox plus optional revised eight speed automatic also in a list.

A 1.5 litre three cylinder engine has been borrowed from current Cooper D that features in 116d and offers 116bhp, it capable to achieve excellent 83.1mpg and CO2 of 89g/km.

Equipment

BMW 1 Series 120dThe basic ‘SE’ models comes with automatic air conditioning, automatic lights and wipers, a CD player with DAB, Bluetooth audio streaming functionality, a multi function leather wrapped steering wheel, a high resolution 6.5 inch infotainment system and the iDrive operating system. The ‘Sport’ trim models benefits from nicer interior elements and sportier styling while the ‘M Sport’ gets 18 inch big alloy wheels, M Sport body kit, sports suspension and Alcantara upholstery.

Optional features available including heated steering wheel, heated and adjustable seats, a Harman Kardon 12-speaker 360-watt sound system and dual-zone climate control.

All the 1 Series models comes with an inbuilt SIM card to enable automatic emergency calling and BMW TeleServices from the car. It allows you to access optional internet based services like real-time traffic data, BMW’s concierge service and BMW’s internet portal.
