Based on the EXP 10 Speed 6 concept car the Bentley Barnato is set to arrive in 3 years time; 2019. The car’s name is in recognition to the former Bentley chairman and one of the former ‘Bentley Boys’, 3-time 24hr Le Mans winner Woolf Barnato, who remains one of very few drivers who won every Le Mans race he entered.
Stricylt a two-seater, the Barnato will sit alongside Bentley’s Continental GT range, which means it will cost in the region of £130,000. Furhtermore, the link between its motor sports name hints that it could be more akin to the EXP 10 concept. However, it is thought that the success of the Bentayga SUV could make Bentley fast-track the development of the coupé version ahead of the Barnato.
Wolfgang Dürheimer, the boss of Bentely, has already stated that a fully electric version of the EXP 10 is being considered, giving Bentley a rival to the Tesla Model S and Porsche’s Mission E which is due to arrive before 2020. Dürheimer has stated “We are investing more than ever before, over 840 million Euros over three years. Our people and our products are key to our future.”
It is thought that the Barnato and the coupé-SUV will play a huge role in helping Bentley to double annual sales by 2020 to 20,000
