Audi SQ2 – The Leanest, Meanest Audi Yet

June 22, 2016

While the regular Audi Q2 is scheduled to go on sale in November this year, those people who want to get their hands on the somewhat secretive SQ2 will have to wait until late next year, or possibly until 2018 or even 2019.

The good news is that Audi is already well into the development stage of the SQ2, which most people believe will feature the same 2.0-litre turbocharged engine as the Audi S3. In the Audi S3, this motor produces an impressive 306 bhp, although it is unlikely that the SQ2 will exceed this. Instead, most fans are anticipating around 295 bhp.

Even if this prediction is correct, the SQ2 will still have the upper hand against other cars in this class, including the Mercedes GLA 250 AMG Line which delivers around 208 bhp.

Audi, as is to be expected, has been very tight-lipped about pricing, but many people who are following the progress of this much-anticipated beast believe it will probably be quite a bit pricier than the regular Audi Q2 which is likely to hit the market with a price tag of around £26,000. By comparison, the SQ2 is likely to come with a price tag of around £35,000.

Although Audi has not given many clues regarding cosmetics, an Audi SQ2 was spotted on a test driving circuit, and a few cosmetic did stand out. For example, it seems very likely that it will sport 4 exhaust outlet pipes. It is also likely to have black bumper trim, and a more high profile rear fin or wind diffuser.

Audi very rarely disappoints, so it is likely that we will also see several differences inside the cockpit, and no doubt, there will be a load of new gadgetry as well.
