On the fourth birthday of A1, Audi has given its compact yet most popular A1 range a mild visual makeover and introduced two three-cylinder engines for the first time.
Since launched in 2010, the A1 range become very popular among the compact family car buyers as we can see Audi have sold more than 500,000, A1 Sportback and A1 Hatchback models. The facelifted A1 versions received interior and exterior styling enhancements, improved engines and specification upgrades.
The facelifted versions will be available to order from late November with first deliveries to be made in Spring 2015.
Audi A1 Facelift :
Exterior – The new Audi A1 and A1 sportback become more sportier with two cm longer in size at a length of 3.98 meters. Optionally, buyers can get contrasting coloured roof in both models. The redesigned front end features a six corner single frame grille, a sharper looking front bumper and attractive headlamps. The A1 sportback side profile looks bit different received rear. mew taillights, new rear bumper and revised door sills.
The interior reflects sophistication and bigger space. The new fine trim strips looks even more elegant and the layout of the control is clean. A1 would be customised by either ‘design’ or ‘sport line’ including plenty of customisation options. The interior gets high glossy black detailing and new upholstery choice of colours/ The informative system MMI has been mildly upgraded with large memory and intelligent speech control plus the Audi connect system can be connect the car over the internet.
All the trim models gets standard alloy wheels, air conditioning, electric front windows and mirror, 6.5 inch display screen, remote central locking and a secondary collision brake assist system joins the list of the latest range.
The latest sport models gets Audi drive select plus Audi music interface and SD card based navigation, larger 16 inch wheels sport seats and suspension, Bluetooth and driver information system. Whereas the top range S line models now benefits from the standard xenon headlamps with LED daytime running lights, 17 inch wheels, exclusive S line exterior and interior styling plus leather and cloth combined upholstery.
A1 range gets completely new redesigned electromechanical power steering that reduces power assist as the vehicle speed increases. Its operation also can be modified by the new Audi drive select system where the driver can operate equipment modules over several modes. These changes makes the A1 more dynamic and comfortable to drive.
A1 will be offered with six engines – four petrol and two diesel. The entry level model will be offered with 1.0 TFSI three-cylinder petrol engine with 90hp offers 65.5 mpg and 99g/km co2. Another new three-cylinder 1.4 litre diesel engine offers excellent 83.1mpg and 89g co2. Both engines are extremely fuel efficient. The seven speed S-tronic is available for all the engines, either optional or standard.
The top ranges S1 and S1 sportback will continue to be offered with their performance CO2 and mpg figures remains the same. Its quattro permanent all wheel drive system transfers engine power to all four wheels that designed for maximum driving fun. The S1 models are very quick too, accelerates 0-62mph in just 5.9 seconds and has a top speed of 155.3mph.
The facelifted versions of Audi A1 models goes on sale later this month, with prices would be £200 to £400 more than the current, depending on the trim and engines.
