2015 Volkswagen Sharan receives new look and new engines

Volkswagen have announced the facelifted Sharan model with new look, new technology and new efficient engines.

Ahead of Geneva Motor Show, Volkswagen have decided to reveal the details of its Sharan MPV (multi-purpose vehicle) which will go on sale in the UK in October.

Volkswagen Sharan is the rival of Ford Galaxy and Peugeot 2008, and has received powerful efficient engines – promising a 15 percent gain in efficiency.


Volkswagen Sharan SideviewThe new VW Sharan has received a few exterior updates including new headlight clusters incorporate with LED daytime running lamps. The tail-lights have been tweaked with LED technology light signature, bringing design closer in line with the rest of the Volkswagen range.

The interior receives the new accents and high quality soft materials to bring superior quality. The 2015 Sharan features company’s new infotainment system that compatible with Android and Apple apps into its user interface. An Android Auto and Mirror link are also available to download and use that makes a greater integration than ever before to any VW model.


The most noticeable upgrades has given to the engine range. The new VW Sharan will be offered in choice of two petrol and three diesel engines which have been improved by as much as 15 percent and all are EU6 emission standard.

The 1.4 and 2.0 litre petrol engines are the same as before, but the larger of the two now offers with improved and a total of 217bhp power. The diesel engine range consists of 114bhp (brake horsepower) 1.6 litre and 2.0 litre engine features 148bhp and 181bhp options.

All the five engines apart from 1.6 litre diesel engine will be offered with VW’s DSG automatic gearbox with a fuel-saving coasting function.

All the Sharan models fitted with the standard automatic post-collision braking system while the blind-spot monitoring system, adaptive cruise control, parking assistance, lane-keeping assistance and automatic emergency braking comes as optional.


The pricing and release date has yet to be announced yet for the refreshed Sharan. However, the Sharan will go on sale in Germany in April and is likely to hit the UK in October.
