The impressive and much awaited BMW 2 Series Convertible is finally here. Replacing the outgoing BMW 1 Series Convertible.
Replacing the existing 1 Series Convertible :
The BMW 2 Series Convertible is the third model in the German brand’s 2 Series line-up. It replaces the successful 1 Series convertible model in the BMW range which has achieved global sales of 130,000 units.
The 2 Series Convertible adds more space, better fuel efficiency, greater refinement and a polished new look, moving on from the 1 Series. Putting the roof down makes the car looks even more stylish.
BMW 2 Series Convertible :
“The BMW 2 Series promises many improvements over its 1 Series predecessor. “
There is no arguing; the BMW 2 Series Convertible is a great looking sports car. It features a long bonnet and wheelbase, short overhands and a raised-biased cabin. It looks similar to its sibling 2 Series Coupe but obviously without the roof.
[one_half][/one_half][one_half_last][/one_half_last]Compared to the old 1 Series, the 2 Series features much slimmer headlights, a wider front grille and a longer yet sleeker body. The car is also 72 millimetres longer and 26 millimetres wider than the old model.
The compact premium convertibles are always in great demand, they are hugely popular amongst young buyers looking for a fun yet powerful sports car in an affordable package.
The BMW 2 Series Convertible blends amazing style and practicality into a unique package that is set to become a hot model and increase summer sales.
How does it look inside?
“With enough room for four adults, the 2 Series offers decent headroom and legroom.”
With just a touch of a button, the electronically operated folding soft top lowers or raises in just 20 seconds even at speeds of over 30 miles per hour. The rotary dial layout is simple to use and easy to reach.
All models come with BMW’s iDrive infotainment system as standard which remains the best on the market.
The standard equipment list is very generous, the basic entry level ‘SE’ model comes with 17 inch alloy wheels, the smaller 6.5 inch iDrive touch screen, Bluetooth, climate control, USB sockets and rear parking sensors. The ‘Sport’ model adds larger alloy wheels and sportier styling, while the ‘Luxury’ models benefits from luxurious leather upholstery.
The ‘M Sports’ model comes with a different alloy wheel design and even more aggressive body styling and a stiffer suspension as standard.
What is under the bonnet?
The BMW 2 Series Convertible is offered with a choice of four turbo-powered engines that come with ‘Efficient Dynamics’ technology to improve fuel efficiency by 18 percent compared to its predecessor.
This car is best for fuel efficient and long haul drivers– BMW includes a new 2.0 litre 220d diesel engine for the first time in their convertible range. It offers an impressive fuel economy of 60.1 miles per gallon with the six speed manual gearbox and 64.2 miles per gallon with the automatic transmission along with CO2 emissions of 124 grams per kilometre and 116 grams per kilometre respectively.
“The diesel engine sounds more practical and is likely to be the most popular choice among UK buyers.”
Best for the Fast and Frugal – The M-powered 3.0 litre six cylinder petrol engine in the M235i range will take you from 0 to 62 miles per hour in just 5.0 seconds and has a top speed of 155 miles per hour.
Best for petrol heads – There’s a choice of two petrol engines available; the 220i and 228i. They are not quite frugal but deliver an impressive performance.
